When I was your age...

 I'm not even that old and I swear all I ever say to my kids anymore is "When I was your age..." Maybe it's because it's summer and all they do is bug me. But, How did being 29 turn into feeling like I'm an old grandma?? And talking about "When I was your age, I walked up hill to school both ways!"

   When I was your age I would go outside for HOURS play by a pond in a big field and not have a single adult check on me. I lived in a small town yes. But now even when we are out on the mountain with no molesters or kidnappers around (not that anyone would keep my kids after they kidnapped them. But that's for another day) I worry my kids are going to fall in the river or get lost! Maybe we were smarter back in the 90's (and before)? I thought about the outcome of things... my kids DO NOT.

   Now my kids complain that its "too hot" outside, Seriously?! You're a kid. You will cool off laying under a tree, right? Or playing in water!

  "Its boring outside" this one pisses me off!! What have I done so wrong as a parent that my kid can't go outside and play in the dirt with trucks or in the water for hours?! When I was your age I played in the DIRT, I played LAVA outside, I ran through sprinklers, I drank from the hose, I looked for snakes I had an imagination outside of MineCraft.

They do have imagination. They just rarely use it. They are making trails for the Ants to follow to food.
The Ants did come... because they put food all over my driveway.

When I was your age I comprehended chores and how to do them. My kids can't even vacuum in straight line more than once. He goes in a circle and misses the whole center of the living room!

When I was your age I didn't dare talk back to my parents. I knew I would get the belt, or go to bed early. My kids can't get the belt. And they don't comprehend the early to bed yet.

I think being a parent back When I was your age, had it easier... only because we were smarter than. I just know it.

 

Mozzarella Sticks

These are so delicious and easy to make! 

This is my Pinterest Success for the week lol.

You can see some of the darker ones are more crispy. The oils keeps getting hotter as you fry them... whoddaa thunk it? So adjust temp along the way.

What you Need:

- Cheese sticks (however many you want to make)

- Bread Crumbs

- 1 Egg

- 1C. Flour

Cut the Cheese Sticks in half. Put them in the freezer and leave them in there for a few hours. This will help it so that the cheese doesn't melt out when you fry them.

Put Vegetable Oil in a pan and get it heated enough that the Sticks aren't going to have to just sit in the grease.

Crack egg into a small bowl and beat well

Roll cheese sticks in flour, then eggs, and then bread crumbs.

Drop (gently so you don't pop grease on you) stick into pan and FRY.

Eat warm. Dip in your favorite dip.
